Educational organisation (text)

Language coaching: Italian, French and German will be taught weekly every academic year. Each language will consist of a Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced level class. A placement exam will take place at the start of each academic year. The Beginner level will emphasize the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) as it applies to the particular language. English will be taught every other year.



For Bachelor voice students: Beginner and Intermediate levels must be completed upon graduation.

For Masters voice students: Advanced level must be completed upon graduation.

Learning outcomes (list)

1.1 The student independently broadens and explores repertoire related to his or her discipline.
The student can translate and contextualise texts (poems, Lieder, opera, oratorios).
The student is able to translate a text in Italian, French and German into the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA)
2.2 The student builds up expertise through organisation and independent study.
The student can independently learn vocal music texts in various languages and perform these.
2.4 The student has acquired the correct playing techniques and posture.
The student acquires knowledge of phonetics, the vowel triangle, elementary basic rules of pronunciation in various languages, muscle exercises for mouth positions and the tongue.
4.3 The student can present orally and in writing the results of critical (self-)reflection.
The student develops general awareness regarding the language (language as source of inspiration, clarity).

Further development of expressive pronunciation, especially in performance
Further development of a critical ear
Specialist application of knowledge of the language in order to achieve an expressive vocal music recital in accordance with the student's voice type
Development of repertoire

All students must take German and Italian
French and English are taught on an alternating basis every two years
