Teaching of this course unit is by group masterclass, focussed on the performance of a specific work. Usually this is preceded by a lecture or presentation by the guest teacher.

Learning outcomes (list)

4.1 The student has extensive knowledge of the broader cultural and (musical) historical context and can use this in his or her artistic practice.
The student can explain the various Bach traditions of the countries surrounding us.
4.3 The student can present orally and in writing the results of critical (self-)reflection.
The student can independently express the various stylistic interpretations of a work from a certain period and describe its impact on his or her own performance practice.

Course content

Read the Vademecum of Keyboard instruments.
Teaching of this course unit is by group masterclass, focussed on the performance of a specific work. Usually this is preceded by a lecture or presentation by the guest teacher. The guest teachers work in blocks and therefore students are asked to prepare intensively a piece of repertoire from the relevant category. This includes the substantiation of knowledge with research around the relevant work or stylistic category.
