Learning outcomes (list)

2.1 The student has thoroughly mastered musical parameters and structures.
The student can make listening analyses without the use of the score and can use and apply various systems of analysis.
The student has knowledge and understanding of more complex forms and structures and can provide broad examples, and is able to apply this knowledge to the primary and secondary parameters.
2.2 The student builds up expertise through organisation and independent study.
The student applies the acquired skills and knowledge from the course unit, Analysis, in order to be able to study in a problem-solving and methodical way.
The student eliminates specific shortcomings and deficiencies by way of independent study.
2.3 The student can process musical structures through analysis and interpretation.
The student can independently read, understand and critically analyse a score and develop his or her independent vision of it.
4.2 The student has acquired a critical and inquiring attitude.
The student can apply analytical skills to the course content and to skills within the subject matter, Research and vice versa.

* In-depth discussion of prominent compositions from western music literature
* Compositions will be for all settings, but especially orchestral works
* Discussion of analytical methods
* Introductory study of 20th century music
* Developement of research abilities
* Study of 20th century music
