Prerequisite competencies (text)

Successful passing of the entrance exam for Choir Conducting. At the entrance exam, the student must demonstrate that he/she possesses the correct pre-requisites. See the details of the entrance exam on the website.

Learning outcomes (list)

1.2 The student masters the internationally used stylistic performance practice standards.
The student acquires knowledge of the elementary basic pronunciation rules in the various languages (German, French and Italian).
4.3 The student can present orally and in writing the results of critical (self-)reflection.
The student develops general awareness regarding the language (language as source of inspiration, clarity).

Knowledge of the basic pronunciation rules of German and Italian and a general understanding of the language (as a source of inspiration and in terms of clarity):

Introduction to language coaching
Phonetic alphabet
(Muscle) exercises
Implementation of pronunciation rules
Development of a critical ear
Poetry
Texts of vocal music

During the two year Language Coaching Conducting 1 and 2 course, students study one language per year, Italian or German. Students may decide themselves which language they will take at which level.
