Learning outcomes (list)

CONCEPT CHOICE
The student can describe the most common refrigeration applications / processes and explain the functioning.
The student can compare the most common refrigeration applications / processes and assess energy consumption.
The student can, on the basis of coolant properties, select the best coolant for each application.
DESIGN
The student is able to draw simplified outlines of the discussed cooling circuits and heat pumps and to establish, for all points of these outlines, relationships to specific log-ph diagram.
The student can relate coolants to the Montreal Protocol and the requirements in Belgium and Europe, concerning knowledge of legislation regarding refrigeration systems and refrigerants, and using transport possibilities and safety.
INSTALLATION
The student knows the functioning of all refrigerant primary and secondary components and can make an appropriate selection depending on the requirements.
IMPROVING
The student can determine and review the efficiency of a cooling circuit based on energy indicators in function of functioning conditions.
