Learning outcomes (list)

Creating smooth, error-free, well-structured (publishable/usable) Dutch-language journalistic formats (products) in which the content, structure, volume and tone of the end product fit the medium (print/tv/radio/web) and the target group.
You write a simple news or reportage item on a social subject.
You can selectively, critically and objectively acquire, analyse and double-check relevant information from various Dutch-speaking and non-Dutch-speaking (traditional, scientific and alternative) sources and information channels using an appropriate technique. This also in unfamiliar and complex contexts.
You collect information about a social problem in a critical way.
Autonomously determine and evaluate relevant and appropriate topics and angles, taking into account the production objective, the target group, the medium, the news value and the reliability of the source.
You approach a social issue from different angles.
You select, in function of a particular journalistic product, relevant information from relevant sources.
Process collected information via the necessary medium-specific skills into a broadcastable audiovisual or auditory product in which the content, structure and tone fit the journalistic genre, format and target group.
You distinguish different light sources based on their characteristics and qualities.
Combining and distributing information from various media (text/image/sound) across multiple media platforms within a cross-media context, using basic techniques such as photography, layout and graphic design. For complex photographic, layout or technical tasks and/or formats we work together with specialists.
You publish in appropriate layout audio and video recordings with accompanying text and photo material on a blog or on Wordpress.
Continuing to function effectively under high time or work pressure by efficiently organising and planning journalistic activities and correctly assessing the consequences of (own) decisions and actions. Following up activities, tasks and agreements correctly, taking into account deadlines, and proceeding systematically when analysing non-confidential complex problems.
You plan and organize interviews and audio and video recordings outside Flanders.
To function efficiently and collegially as a member of a multidisciplinary team (mono-media/multi-media/cross-media editorial team) in which one expresses one's own opinions and points of view with respect for others. Constructive and collaborative participation in the process of consultation and action with the willingness and ability to adjust work (own and that of others) and procedures. Taking joint responsibility for collective goals and results.
You consult in group about the content, approach, reporting and presentation of a journalistic product.
You can deal appropriately with intercultural differences and have a cross-border, internationally oriented attitude.
You report on current events in a city outside Flanders, taking into account the different cultural context.
