Prerequisites

(previously registered for French training 1 AND previously registered for French training 2) AND (to be taken together with French in Journalism OR previously registered for French in Journalism).

Learning outcomes (list)

To express oneself orally correctly in Dutch, French and English and to adopt the appropriate attitude when making and maintaining journalistic contacts in order to function professionally in various (complex) journalistic work situations and contexts.
You use a foreign language (French) for journalistic purposes. You look up information in other languages in function of assignments. You conduct a human interest or business critical interview in French. You contact a foreign speaker by mail, social media or telephone.
You can selectively, critically and objectively acquire, analyse and double-check relevant information from various Dutch-speaking and non-Dutch-speaking (traditional, scientific and alternative) sources and information channels using an appropriate technique. This also in unfamiliar and complex contexts.
You use a foreign language (French) for journalistic purposes (including communication, interviewing).
You look up foreign-language information according to assignments.
Autonomously determine and evaluate relevant and appropriate topics and angles, taking into account the production objective, the target group, the medium, the news value and the reliability of the source.
You'll select, based on an appropriate perspective, appropriate critical questions for an interview in French.
You can deal appropriately with intercultural differences and have a cross-border, internationally oriented attitude.
You'll conduct a human interest or business critical interview outside of Flanders, taking into account the different cultural context.
