Learning outcomes (list)

Interpret and apply job-related rules and regulations, relating, in particular to: civil and judicial law, building and real estate law, environmental law, town and country planning law, tax law, ... and to advise on these in a meaningful manner.
The student can advise the client on premiums and subsidies related to sustainable and climate-friendly innovation and renovation in real estate.
The student can analyze current sustainable building certifications and understand the criteria used to assess sustainability.
The student recognizes pitfalls such as greenwashing, misuse of labels, etc.
Apply job-related ICT applications and use standard software, multimedia and communication tools in the workplace.
The student can use the tool from the Flemish government to achieve future-oriented, comfortable buildings through an integrated design process, with a strong focus on circular building.
Give specific advice and carry out expert assessments.
The student can read and evaluate an EPC certificate.
The student can provide basic advice to their client regarding the purchase, sale, rental, and leasing of real estate in terms of energy, renovation, and sustainability.
Technical knowledge related to construction, materials recognition, construction physics, construction pathology, renovation and maintenance.
The student can describe the evolution of building and housing techniques throughout history, including the impact of globalization and significant historical sustainability initiatives.
The student knows what urban mining, LCA, and the Madaster are and how they can be used in the context of circular and regenerative building.
The student knows the steps that need to be taken to make a real estate project sustainable.
The student can apply critical thinking to case studies of sustainable building and housing techniques, using their understanding of sustainability principles to evaluate innovative solutions.
Communicate well and clearly in a commercial manner (including reporting) with (potential) customers and the ability to express themselves in a professional context in different languages.
