Learning outcomes (list)

BA2 - The student has the necessary knowledge, skills and insights regarding material, form, action, concepts, function and contents of the chosen medi
The student knows the different graphic printing techniques.
The student knows the basic concepts in typography, design, photography and colour.
The student knows colour application in printed work: colours, quadrichromie, spot colours.

Course content

In Production & Workflow, system is the central concept: the meaningful connection between artistic practice and professional production context. Students gain insight into how structure, networks, material choices, and distribution impact graphic design. They learn to apply strategies that allow their ideas to take shape within existing systems of production and publication.

PWGD1 – Introductory Level

Production & Workflow 1 offers an introduction to graphic production processes, printing techniques, color management, and use of materials. Students learn how to prepare files and use printing options, with a special attention to self-publishing and small press. Theory is combined with exercises and visits to print studios. The focus is on understanding the technical foundations that support design.

Evaluation (text)

Assessment is based on assignments, exercises and the reporting of activities. The semester concludes with an oral presentation of the work produced. Both process and outcome are assessed.
