Learning outcomes (list)

BA1 - The student has the necessary artistic skills to design and/or realize a personal project within the broad spectrum of the visual arts under supervision.
The student can independently draw up patterns and apply coupe studies
BA2 - The student has the necessary knowledge, skills and insights regarding material, form, action, concepts, function and contents of the chosen medi
The student can convert a technical drawing via a pattern to a 3D version.
The student can deepen his/her professional knowledge and produce silhouettes with sufficient technical knowledge and skills.

Course content

- The assignment is designed with the intention of guiding the student step by step in the three-dimensional translation of a design, with a strong focus on shaping, fit and cuts.

- In the first phase, the student interprets and realizes a world costume, learning to work with existing cultural references, volumes and constructions.

- In the second phase, the student develops a collection based on their own designs, with an emphasis on execution: from technical research and mock-ups to the creation of final silhouettes (minimum of 7)

- The focus lies on the 3D development and technical realization of each design, with special attention to proportions, forms and materials.

- Through the execution of various technical studies, mock-ups and fittings, the student is able to accurately translate designs into finished garments.

- High-quality finishing techniques are researched, tested and documented in the workbook as evidence of technical progress and understanding.

- The study of the blazer is integrated as a separate exercise or as a part of the collection, depending on the chosen trajectory of the student.

Evaluation (text)

Continuous assessment through presentations and review moments throughout the academic year. The student's attendance and active participation is required for this course. In case of justified absence, notify the lecturer by mail and from the third absence onwards, you must submit a valid certificate via the absence monitor in iBaMaFlex.

Semester 1: an initial formative evaluation takes place at the end of the first semester.
Semester 2: a final jury evaluation takes place at the end of the second semester.

Process and product are inseparably linked and are evaluated as a whole.
The final assessment of both process and product is determined 100% during the final jury at the end of semester 2.

To pass this course, you must finish the costume assignment.
