Short description

In Research Methodology 2, we discuss academic and non-academic artistic research using numerous examples, focusing on how research models and methods can evolve.

Learning outcomes (list)

BA4 - The student develops and sharpens his/her critical and investigative attitude towards designs and/or realizations that arise from visual experiments and research, emotion and intuition.
The student learns to deal correctly with bibliographic data. The style guide applies as a guideline.
The student can summarize a lecture.
The student can write a paper.
The student can express a personal point of view in writing.
The student can use a reference system in a consistent manner.

Course content

You will develop an understanding of how well-known artists and master students develop their oeuvre or develop a method of working that leads to the creation of an oeuvre.

Study material (text): Mandatory

During the course, the lecturer will provide numerous examples of methods used by contemporary visual artists, authors, choreographers, musicians, scientists, designers, etc., and will refer to a wide range of publications.
Students are also welcome to suggest examples and texts.
Students are required to attend all classes. No alternative assignments will be given.

Evaluation (text)

You write a paper in which you compare existing research methods with your own. For this, you not only use the recommended literature and references, but also the input and insights obtained during the lessons and lectures. Attendance in class is therefore the starting point for a good paper and is part of the evaluation.
