Short description

Introduction to scenography.

In the first year of the bachelor's program, students learn to formulate a scenographic proposal by means of a number of exercises. They experiment with different materials and techniques. They learn to associate and experiment to discover unexpected visual and material solutions. Students also learn the basic principles of documenting their research using photos and sketches in a process book. They investigate how scenography can relate to a costume. These exercises mainly aim to provide students with a toolbox that they can continue to rely on in the coming years. During the lessons, the research is usually discussed individually. There are two informal evaluation moments in which students present their research to fellow students and also provide feedback themselves.

Course content

Introduction to scenography.
During the first year of the bachelor's degree, students learn to formulate an initial scenographic proposal using a number of exercises. In order to further develop these proposals, students conduct a broad form and material research in order to develop their own visual language. In this way, students learn to associate freely in a four-dimensional space and to make an abstraction of a given reality.
These exercises also aim to provide students with a toolbox that they can continue to rely on in the following years.
