The program includes:

1. Making an interpretation of a historical costume

The costume is constructed from out the inside. Research into underwear and underconstruction is essential. Making a corset is a required part of the assignment.

2. The student learns the basics of draping and converting to pattern using basic exercises. This is followed by working toward a replica of an existing piece.

3.The student is introduced to the operation of manual knitting machines
This involves experimenting with different threads and their capabilities on the knitting machines and the student acquires a basic knowledge of different stitch patterns.
