Short description

In physical awareness, students explore ways to prepare themselves for a sustainable career. The body is the instrument, not only physically but also artistically.
Physical Awareness consists of 3 different modules: LAB, Anatomy of the voice and Physical fitness

In LAB (Physical Artistic Awareness = 30h), one's own relaxed-supportive posture is explored, in addition to discovering the body as an artistic presence in the theatrical space.

In Physical fitness = 30h, students work on strengthening their own bodies under the guidance of a physiotherapist.

In Anatomy of the voice = 5h, students gain an understanding of the anatomical workings of the voice

Evaluation (text)

  • Skills test permanent 50%
The permanent evaluation is tested during the lesson weeks, in each lesson (30% during the Physical and Artistic Awareness lessons and 20% during the Fitness lessons).
  • Skills test: 20% (Physical Fitness)
  • Knowledge and insight test: 30% (20% Oral test Physical and Artistic Awareness, 10%: Module Anatomy of the Voice

The Physical Fitness component is assessed for 20% of the points on a permanent basis (every lesson) during the lesson weeks, and for 20% during a skills test at the end of the lesson series (with a baseline measurement at the start of the lesson series so that progress can be measured).

The Physical Artistic Awareness component is assessed for 30% of the points on a continuous basis (every lesson) during the lesson weeks, and for 20% of the points during an oral test in the middle and an oral test at the end of the lesson series.

The Voice Anatomy component is assessed for 10% of the points by means of a knowledge and insight test.

In the Skill Test, which is assessed continuously during the lesson weeks (Continuous Assessment), each lesson is assessed and graded. Your attendance is mandatory (except in case of illness, force majeure, or written approval from the program) in order to be assessed through continuous assessment. Unauthorized absences will have a negative impact on your chances of passing the course.

In the event of unauthorized absence, you will receive a ‘Did not participate’ on the partial score for that lesson.

In the event of authorized absence, you can request a catch-up evaluation via the I-bamaflex module ‘My absences’, with a certificate. This must be done for each lesson. If you do not do this, you will receive a ‘Did not participate’ on the partial score for that lesson.

If you are unable to attend classes for a long period of time due to long-term illness or permanent problems, you must request Individual Adjustments via the student counselor before the start of the course series. Be sure to discuss this with your coordinator and the chair of the movement department.
