You indicate in conversation with an older person when he or she detects the need for support in being seen as a human being and why
The gerontological consultant is able to adjust and optimize care and support processes based on evidence-informed (scientific) research and guidelines, own experiences and regional, European and international evolutions.
You support older people in their search for meaning
You encourage identity development in older people
You correctly assess the impact dementia has on an older adult's life (and on those who surround them) and devise ways to provide greater quality of care, life and living.
The gerontological consultant cooperates with and supports older adults themselves in contributing to a more positive and realistic image of older adults as well as undertaking policy actions that contribute to an inclusive society. In doing so, opportunities for participation by older adults are maximized.
