Short description

In this expert class, we take a step further into the world of video production during lectures and exercises, where we delve both technically and creatively into advanced use of various video disciplines and special effects.

We analyze films and existing advertising campaigns and delve into the technical aspects of special effects. In doing so, we delve deeper into the circumstances and camera settings that are essential to successfully achieve a specific special effect. We edit existing and own video footage with special effects and also focus on the color correction of the video footage using DaVinci.


To smoothly complete this OLOD, good prior knowledge of Premiere and After Effects software is required.

Course content

The following topics are covered:

  • Production-technical analysis of common special effects
  • Production of different special effects
  • Shooting video in function of specific special effects
  • Use of manual settings of a video camera depending on circumstances and effects
  • Recording, narrative use and post-production of audio
  • Appropriate application for communicative or commercial purposes
  • Green key recording and processing
  • Using different lighting set-ups for certain SFX / to create a specific atmosphere
  • Perform colour corrections to enhance certain SFX
