Short description

The interstudio course Moving Image offers students a unique opportunity to enrich their familiar visual language with the medium of moving image.
By stepping outside the boundaries of their own specialisation, they explore new forms of time-based expression that deepen and broaden their artistic practice. In a context of experimentation, dialogue and technical support, they develop fresh perspectives and strengthen their position within a contemporary, hybrid field of arts.

Course content

Studio Moving Image is a programme that focuses on the student’s personal and artistic development. You will work on a self-chosen project that takes shape—from concept to final presentation—in ongoing dialogue with Wim Catrysse. Critical reflection, experimentation, and engagement are fundamental throughout this process.

The programme begins with a project proposal. The complexity and direction of your work are largely defined by your own ambitions and artistic choices. You will be introduced to the basic skills of digital cinematography, including camera technology, lenses, editing, and the presentation of video art.

Studio Moving Image acts as an artistic laboratory that actively encourages dialogue and collaboration among participants. Within the available resources, the studio supports the production of your audiovisual project. You can opt for a linear, narrative approach, an experimental form of digital cinema, or an interdisciplinary project that focuses on performative or installative elements.

How can you apply?

The format allows only a limited number of participants. Therefore, please send the following information to geert.goiris@ap.be before 15/9/2025 (11:59pm):

  1. a short text (max. 250 words, with images) in which you indicate the audiovisual project you would like to realise in the Studio,
  2. some images or links that illustrate your own artistic work and inspirations.

No later than 19/9/2025 you will receive an invitation to the interview where we determine whether you can start in the Studio Moving Image.

Study material (text): Mandatory

All students must purchase an external portable SSD (Solid State Driver) Samsung T5 to store their data.
