Learning outcomes (list)

1.1 The student independently broadens and explores repertoire related to his or her discipline.
The student has a basic knowledge of HaFaBra repertoire.
2.3 The student can process musical structures through analysis and interpretation.
The student can make an in-depth analysis with a view to speeding up the rehearsal process.
The student develops his or her own interpretation of HaFaBra repertoire by means of short periods of observation.
2.4 The student has acquired the correct playing techniques and posture.
The student can demonstrate a good basic conducting technique.
3.1 The student can employ his or her social and communication skills in order to take on a leadership role.
The student is able to communicate with an orchestra.
The student works in a team (with other artistic disciplines) on the creation of his or her own artistic concept.
The student gains practical experience as a director of an (amateur) orchestra.
4.3 The student can present orally and in writing the results of critical (self-)reflection.
The student can prepare a wind orchestra or similar ensemble for a concert and can give a spoken reflection on this.
The student can crtically reflect on HaFaBra rehearsals and concerts in written and oral format and can thereby analyse the differences between the personal vision and that of the conductor. The student can furthermore adequately analyse the evolution of

Course content

-Conducting technique (specific exercises applied to predominantly contemporary orchestral literature).
-Ear exercises (including error detection, intonation, balance, articulation, stylistic differences, chords)
-Analysis of orchestral works from various styles and periods (harmonic, form, instrumentation, percussion technique, rehearsal technique, style-oriented)
-Arrangement and Orchestration: learning to make arrangements/orchestrations for all types of hafabra orchestras.
-Literature: acquiring the history and overview of hafabra literature and applying it to the composition of concert programmes around specific themes and the structure of a concert
-Gaining practical experience in the hafabra orchestra of the Conservatory (playing or conducting) and with external orchestras through listening internships
-Applying research skills
