Learning outcomes (list)

1.1 The student independently broadens and explores repertoire related to his or her discipline.
The student further develops his or her conducting technique.
1.2 The student masters the internationally used stylistic performance practice standards.
The student acquires knowledge and understanding of choral literature from all stylistic periods, from renaissance to contemporary choral music.
1.4 The student makes music in an artistic project in a creative manner.
The student develops his or her own interpretation of choral repertoire by means of short periods of observation.
2.3 The student can process musical structures through analysis and interpretation.
The student is able to make an in-depth analysis aimed at speeding up the rehearsal process.
3.1 The student can employ his or her social and communication skills in order to take on a leadership role.
The student is able to communicate adequately with a choir.
4.1 The student has extensive knowledge of the broader cultural and (musical) historical context and can use this in his or her artistic practice.
The student is able to apply and discuss choral literature him- or herself.

Course content

Read the study guide of the conducting department
-Conducting technique (specific exercises; applied to choral literature).
-Hearing exercises (including error detection, intonation, balance, articulation, style differences, chords)
-Analysis of choral works from various styles and periods (harmonic, percussion technique, rehearsal technique, style-oriented)
-Acquiring literature: history and overview of choral literature and its application for the composition of concert programs around specific themes
-Gaining practical experience in the conductor's choir and with external choirs through listening internships
-Applying research skills
