Learning outcomes (list)

1.4 The student makes music in an artistic project in a creative manner.
The student can orchestrate existing repertoire on a basic level and with coaching from the teacher.
The student can realise his or her own orchestral work at a basic level and with coaching from the teacher.
The student knows the stylistic aspects within an historical perspective.
The student has a basic knowledge of the separate instruments (range, timbre etc).
The student has a basic knowledge of major orchestral works.

Course content

Students prepare orchestrations on an individual basis. These are analyzed in group under the direction of the teacher. Students are expected to engage in thorough self-study by studying scores for orchestra and the textbook ("The Study of Orchestration," Samuel Adler).
