Learning outcomes (list)

Interpret and apply job-related rules and regulations, relating, in particular to: civil and judicial law, building and real estate law, environmental law, town and country planning law, tax law, ... and to advise on these in a meaningful manner.
The student can explain the general principles of Belgian personal income tax (who is subject, what income is taxed, when and how to file, etc.).
The student can place property income and tax benefits related to home loans in a final tax calculation.
The student can enter personal data and family expenses in a tax return and can reason through and calculate its implications using a simulation tool.
The student can explain the impact of the tax-free allowance and its possible increases on the final tax calculation.
Give specific advice and carry out expert assessments.
The student can reason through and calculate the impact of owning real estate on personal income tax using a simulation tool.
The student can compare the Flemish and federal historical tax benefits for financing real estate (own and non-own home) and explain how they affect ongoing cases.
Communicate well and clearly in a commercial manner (including reporting) with (potential) customers and the ability to express themselves in a professional context in different languages.
The student can use specific real estate language
Independently document, analyse and manage a real estate dossier in all its facets: architecturally, financially, from a taxation point of view, economically and legally.
The student can determine how real estate (own home, professional use, rental to private/professional users, land, etc.) is taxed in personal income tax in a specific situation.
The student can explain when Flemish or federal tax benefits for loans related to real estate acquisition may be retained in the case of refinancing.
Correctly compile and adapt real estate agreements in a legally correct manner, fulfil the concomitant administrative formalities and carry out financial transactions, independently.
The student can distinguish between different types of property income and declare them correctly.
The student can correctly report repayments of home loans and any life insurance premiums eligible for Flemish or federal tax benefits.
