Learning outcomes (list)

BA1 - The student has the necessary artistic skills to design and/or realize a personal project within the broad spectrum of the visual arts under supervision.
The student knows the principles of gravure.
BA2 - The student has the necessary knowledge, skills and insights regarding material, form, action, concepts, function and contents of the chosen medi
The student masters at beginners' level the skills of printing (gravure).
The student can prepare an etching plate and paper.
The student can set up an image on the plate.
The student can design a preliminary study for etching at beginner level.
The student knows the principles of gravure.

Course content

Through predetermined assignments, students learn the various basic techniques of intaglio printing. Students go through these assignments throughout the academic year. Explanations and demonstrations are given for each assignment. Students will receive the description of all assignments at the start of the academic year. Failure to complete these assignments as described may jeopardize study progress.By using a large number of small intaglios the student obtains experience in using the etching needle on copperplate. The student walks through the different fases of the etching process and gains experience in all the aspects of intaglio.
