Course Content 1

Collecting References

Exploration of artists, artworks, exhibitions, films, texts, and other artistic and cultural reference sources.
Investigation of formal, material, and conceptual approaches within historical and contemporary sculpture.
Development of a personal collection of images, notes, sketches, and reference material relevant to the student’s own artistic development.
Introduction to different ways of observing, analysing, and interpreting artistic sources.
Development of an investigative attitude through observation, comparison, and reflection on visual work.

Course Content 2

Documentation of the Working Process

Documentation of the artistic working process through sketches, drawings, notes, photographs, maquettes, and process material.
Exercises focused on recording, organising, and archiving artistic research and studio experiences.
Introduction to two-dimensional research methods in support of three-dimensional work.
Compilation of a documentation file, portfolio, or process archive in which development, experimentation, and research become visible.
Attention to visual presentation, structure, and coherence within the documentation of the working process.

Course Content 3

Reflection and Exchange

Reflection on the individual working process, references used, and artistic choices within practical exercises and research assignments.
Discussion of personal work and that of fellow students during feedback sessions, group discussions, and presentations.
Exercises focused on formulating observations, associations, and conceptual connections between references and personal work.
Development of a critical and investigative attitude through dialogue, comparison, and exchange of ideas.

Permanent evaluation of the the assessment is based on:

Jury assessment

the quality and relevance of the references collected;

the development of the artistic journey and the working process;

the presentation and explanation of the documentation during the jury session.


Permanent assessment

the quality and continuity of the documentation of the working process;

active participation in reflection and feedback sessions during lessons.

During the jury assessment, the student presents their documentation, references and working process. These are explained orally and discussed with the jury.

The assessment is based on the student’s level of development in the first year of the Bachelor’s programme.esearch folder on various presentation and review moments during the academic year, concluded with an end evaluation at the end of the academic year.
