Learning outcomes (list)

BA3 - The student knows about and understands the social, cultural, artistic, historical and international context of the visual arts and artistic praxis, and continues to develop this knowledge and understanding.
The student can artistically process and name relevant environmental factors.
BA4 - The student develops and sharpens his/her critical and investigative attitude towards designs and/or realizations that arise from visual experiments and research, emotion and intuition.
The student can process information sources (books, magazines, websites, newspapers, photos, experiences, exhibitions, films and all sorts of artistic matters) in a meaningful and personal way in drawings and disorganization drawings.
The student can consult and interpret different sources (books, magazines, newspapers, photos, experiences, exhibitions, films and all sorts of artistic matters) that are necessary for the artistic work.
The student can support his/her three-dimensional work with two-dimensional research-oriented and artistic notes.

Course Content 1

Analysis of references and sources

Research into historical and contemporary artists, artworks, and movements within the visual arts.
Analysis of formal, conceptual, and material strategies through visual and theoretical sources.
Discussion of art historical, social, and interdisciplinary contexts relevant to the student’s own artistic practice.
Reading and analysis of texts, exhibitions, films, and other references in support of artistic research.

Course Content 2

Concept Development

Development of conceptual starting points for the student’s own artistic practice.
Translation of references, observations, and research findings into visual proposals, sketches, and artistic experiments.
Research into different methods of concept development and their relationship to material, form, and meaning.
Individual and collective exercises focusing on association, interpretation, and artistic positioning.

Course Content 3

Reflection and Articulation

Oral and written reflection on the student’s own working process and artistic trajectory.
Presentation and discussion of concepts, references, and research outcomes during individual tutorials, group discussions, and presentation moments.
Exercises in formulating and contextualising artistic choices and in connecting sources, concepts, and artistic practice.
Feedback and reflection sessions aimed at fostering critical dialogue and artistic development.

Evaluation (text)

The assessment is based on:

the development of the concept and the references gathered;

critical reflection on one’s own work and the artistic context;

the presentation and articulation of the research during the assessment panel;

active participation in reflection and feedback sessions during lessons.

During the jury assessment, the student presents their concept, references and research process. These are explained orally and discussed with the jury. The assessment is based on the substantive quality of the concept, the relevance of the references and the extent to which these support the artistic work.

The assessment is based on the level of development of a student in the second year of the Bachelor’s programme.
