Learning outcomes (list)

BA1 - The student has the necessary artistic skills to design and/or realize a personal project within the broad spectrum of the visual arts under supervision.
The student can correctly and artistically apply the possibilities and techniques of simple metalworking.
BA2 - The student has the necessary knowledge, skills and insights regarding material, form, action, concepts, function and contents of the chosen medi
The student can use the basic principles of TIG welding.
The student can work with a Mig / Mag welding machine.

Course content

Course Content 1

Advanced Welding Techniques

Further development of technical welding skills through work with different welding processes, including basic TIG welding and semi-automatic welding (MIG/MAG).
Exercises focused on precision, control, finishing, and the assembly of metal structures and connections.
Exploration of the technical possibilities and limitations of different welding techniques within sculptural applications.
Attention to safety procedures, material behaviour, and accurate handling of welding equipment within workshop practice.

Course Content 2

Constructive Thinking and Material Insight

Investigation of how construction methods, material choices, and joining techniques influence the form, stability, and appearance of sculptural work.
Analysis of technical and structural solutions within metal construction and sculptural practice.
Exercises focusing on balance, support, tension, proportion, and the relationship between structure and visual form.
Development of insight into the interaction between technical decisions and sculptural outcomes.

Course Content 3

Integration of Metal within the Artistic Process

Application of metalworking and welding techniques within the student’s own artistic practice and sculptural projects.
Experimentation with the expressive and conceptual possibilities of metal as an artistic medium.
Translation of technical knowledge into sculptural forms and artistic interventions.
Development of work in which material, technique, construction, and artistic intention are integrated into a coherent visual language.
