Course content

Course Content 1

  • Further development of technical skills in stone and wood sculpture through more complex sculptural assignments.
  • Investigation of the specific properties, limitations, and expressive possibilities of different types of stone and wood.
  • Further development of skills in the use of hand tools, machinery, and finishing techniques within a safe workshop practice.
  • Experimentation with material treatment, surface structure, and sculptural detailing.

Course Content 2

  • Development of personal sculptural solutions based on sketches, models, and spatial studies.
  • Investigation of composition, rhythm, tension, proportion, and spatial relationships within stone and wood sculpture.
  • Experimentation with the relationship between material, form, and artistic intention within a subtractive working process.
  • Translation of observation and design into a more autonomous sculptural visual language.

Course Content 3

  • Realisation of individual sculptural projects in stone or wood based on a personal artistic starting point.
  • Investigation of different working methods, constructive solutions, and presentation strategies within sculptural practice.
  • Reflection on material choice, technical decisions, and the relationship between concept, form, and execution.
  • Introduction to historical and contemporary examples in stone and wood sculpture through visual material, texts, and group discussions.
