Introduction to the Arts & Humanities provides a general cultural and art historical framework in which important events and developments in (mainly Western) cultural history from prehistory to the present day are reviewed and explored in depth.

Introduction to the Arts & Humanities 1 covers specifically the period from the emergence of culture to 1900. The lines of development followed are the awareness of death or vulnerability in relation to cultural production, the evolution of ideas about beauty or the ideal of beauty, and the connection or dialogue between the evolution of both.
