Learning outcomes (list)

2.3 The student reads, analyses, writes and interprets music.
Using the score, the student can situate a piece of music written between 1800 and today.
4.1 The student has knowledge of the broader cultural and (musical) historical context.
The student can place a work written between 1800 and the present day within a style period and genre by listening to it.
The student has an in-depth knowledge and understanding of stylistic evolutions within music history from 1800 to the present day.
The student can situate the stylistic evolutions of music history from 1800 to today within a broad historic context.
The student can give an in-depth explanation of the oeuvre and the historical importance of the important representative figures from music history from 1800 to today.

Evaluation (text)

- Knowledge test: written and/or oral examination at the end of the semester, or based on a paper. Semi-annual (40%) and annual exam (40%).
- Portfolio: the student writes a personal reflective report of 5 of the 10 concerts attended. Assessment of the concert reports is based on a portfolio, possibly with oral explanation (20%).
