Course content

Introduction to the Arts and Humanities 2 builds on the course Arts and Humanities 1 and covers the period of the 20th and 21st century. The developmental trajectory followed here is the issue of 'border'/'limitation,' inherent to 20th/21st-century art and culture.

This theme of 'border' or 'limitation' is explored through two aesthetical notions that embody this issue: transgression (crossing boundaries) and the sublime. Using these two concepts, the contemporary art and cultural world are explored, with attention to the further evolution of developmental lines already set out in Arts and Humanities 1 (vulnerability/crisis of beauty...)."
