Course content

Read the study guide

In this scenic interpretation course, the emotional potential of the student is explored. The aim of the course is to teach how to theatrically translate that potential into a scenic performance.

Initially, work is done individually on the opera repertoire chosen by the student and their pedagogue. Gradually, ensembles are addressed so that the student learns to play together.

In order to work optimally on interpretation, a perfect understanding of the meaning of the sung text, in its musical context, is required from all fellow performers.

The student is expected to master the literal and figurative meaning of the sung text and to provide an individual interpretation of it.

From there, a scenic interpretation will be developed using various acting techniques, improvisation, or directorial instructions.

Instruction will be provided in opera repertoire in German, English, French, Italian, and Dutch.
