Learning outcomes (list)

1. Physiology, care and guidance
You describe the physiological development and anatomy of the breast. 
You describe the physiological changes of the newborn at birth. 
You describe the placental phase of childbirth. 
You describe how the pelvic floor functions and how pelvic dynamics and posture influence each other during labour and childbirth. 
You define all aspects of the first breastfeeding initiation, including skin-to-skin contact, taking into account the 10 key principles established by the WHO. 
You describe all observation parameters and normal values of both the maternal and fetal components of a CTG recording. 
You recognise the stages of labour and childbirth, including the typical behaviour of the labouring woman in each stage. 
You distinguish between the different components of midwifery methodology and diagnostics, both in form and content. 
You interpret a CTG recording according to the taught guidelines. 
You explain the relationship between the three factors of labour (the three Ps) and their influence on both the labour process and the behaviour of the labouring woman. 
You explain how preparation and midwifery support contribute to physiological coping with labour pain. 
You explain all observations in the immediate postpartum period (< 2 hours after birth) in the postpartum woman. 
You list all components of the clinical examination of the newborn. 
You explain the physiological course of normal childbirth, including hormonal changes, the successive stages of labour, and postplacental processes. 
You recognise different types of placentas based on observations during placental examination. 
You distinguish between true and false labour based on characteristics from a described situation. 
You describe the key factors that influence the physiological course of labour and childbirth. 
4. Psycho-social context
You explain the psychological aspects of labour and childbirth in relation to the experience of parenthood. 
You provide an overview of the psychological changes experienced by the woman during labour and childbirth.
